In English :

This Grande Meditation was certainly only written for performers. No score has been found (cf Doyle "Bibliographic Study and Catalog of Works"). Only a "Concert Waltz from Faust" was found but has nothing to do with this meditation.
This last work was originally composed for four pianos and first performed the 17 april 1864. Then Gottschalk performed it with many eminent pianists in all America (Canada, New York, California, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil)*
It was also arranged for 31 pianists and two orchestras. Hence, it is quite surprising that no score was found. With all the copies written for so numerous performers, one should have re-appeared.

The 6th and 13th of december 1865, Gottschalk performed in Lima, Peru a "Medition sur des thèmes de Faust" for Piano, Harmonium and violin. No copophone is mentionned there.

The piece with copophone was performed the 18th of June 1869 at the Theatro Gymnasio Dramatico" of Brazil under the title :

The artists were : Gottschalk, Furtado Coelho, H. G. Tiepke, Ricardo Ferreira de Carvalho Achilles Arnaud, Luigi Elena, Joaquim Antonio da Silva Callado.
The copophone part was performed by Furtado Coelho who composed a lot for this instrument and used to play it at several Gottschalk's concerts.

The score must have remained in the papers of this artist. It is certainly in Brazil, either in a library, in the house of a descendant or definitely lost.
